BIO
Nectarine is a goth-du-wop band from Long Beach California built on new friends after broken hearts, and is spearheaded by Nima Kazerouni of the acclaimed L.A. outfit So Many Wizards. Nima has started several bands while his main project continues to release albums to a widening audience, and Nectarines is the latest and greatest. After experiencing the bursting music scene in Long Beach, he formed a band, wrote an album, and ended up moving to the urban-beach city.
In Summer 2015, Nima was introduced to drummer Allie Bumsted at a local bar in Long Beach. Neither were aware that it would be the start of a special new project. Nima lived in Echo Park, but he would occasionally come back to Long Beach to hang out with Allie.
“We would just jam together and write songs on the fly in her Long Beach garage while drinking beers and coffee.” (Amoeba Music Interview)
Soon they began discussing song ideas of their own. During these garage sessions, the friendship continued to deepen as Allie became Nima’s dating therapist in-between working out the song structures and lyrics. This unique pairing has now developed into a full-fledged self proclaimed goth-du-wop passion project of neighborhood friends supporting the Nectarines cause.
After a recent breakup, Nima solidified Nectarines by moving into Allie’s Long Beach house where the project and friendship began. With Nima Kazerouni on lead vox/guitar, Allie Bumsted on drums, they recruited an all-female backing band: Corina Camacho on keys, Kaitlin Weichel on bass and the newly added Rachel Rufrano on lead guitar. This powerful lineup has been catching attention from Long Beach to Los Angeles, and earned them a spot at 2016’sEcho Park Rising. This is only the beginning.
Porch Party Records has welcomed them into the family and will release their self titled debut EP on 12” vinyl on March 3rd.
