L.A. RECORD TRACK PREMIERE: LITRONIX - “ARE YOU NEW AGE?” (PLUS SENSATIONS’ FIX REMIX!) →

We’re back with another new release from Porch Party Records, and this one is extra special: the first vinyl from Litronix, which is electro-cosmic visionary Kevin Litrow (Dance Disaster Movement, 60 Watt Kid, N.O.W.) and his co-pilot and producer Avi Buffalo. The gloriously rebuilt “Are You New Age?”, one of Litrow’s signature songs, is like Suicide’s Martin Rev and Talking Heads’ David Byrne on a last-ditch succeed-at-all-costs mission to save humanity from itself, with therapeutic synthesizers and lyrics that sound like one of those AI philosophers Philip K. Dick used to have people carry around in suitcases. (Dr. Smile, wasn’t it?) And b-side remix is by Sensations’ Fix Franco Falsini, an electronic pioneer in his own right and arguable inventor of this whole beautiful sound. The “Are You New Age?” 7″ will ship later this summer on Long Beach’s Porch Party Records, and it’ll be followed by the very long-awaited Pump The Gas full-length!) Below find a video teaser for the 7″ and a self Q&A provided by the band (and Falsini) that explains the old ways behind the new age:
L.A. RECORD TRACK PREMIERE: DUSTIN LOVELIS + JOEL JASPER - “PLASTIC-BODY” →
cover photo by Rachel Rufrano
via LARECORD.COM
This month, L.A. RECORD will be premiering tracks from Long Beach’s Porch Party Records every Friday, and here’s the first set: a truly bromantic collaboration between Dustin Lovelis, who released his excellent solo debut Dimensions last year and ended up on one of our posters, and Joel Jasper, who debuted his own personal song of the summer with us last year as well. After proximity and a mutual fondness for beers and records grew into a friendship, Jasper and Lovelis decided to cover each other’s songs—truly the best next level two friends can explore—and we’ve got the results above, with Lovelis doing Jasper’s “Summer Body” and Jasper doing Lovelis’ “Plastic Flowers.” This digital split is available now from Porch Party on a pay-what-you-want basis—go grab it! A hilarious self-submitted Porch Party Records Q&A with Lovelis and Jasper follows, as well as a surprise video from Lovelis. Check back next week for a VERY long-awaited debut from another local favorite!
