BIO
Was it the sound of Long Beach during the summer of 2012 or was it more a group of musical friends giving it their all in trying to harness the warmth of the west coast sun as it slowly absorbed into the spinning reel to real? Like a time capsule, Greater California's new single "Long Shadows" includes the help of some of the city's finest musicians (featuring members of Wild Pack of Canaries, White Murder, The Fling, Lassie Foundation). With choir recordings in the First Congressional Church in downtown Long Beach and the always magical sonics of a Farmer Dave pedal steel performance, both songs elevate the group to a new level of shining grandness.
Terry Prine - guitar, vocals // Greg Brown - drums
Kari Prine - piano, organ // Chris Berens - guitar // Shea Gauer - bass
PRESS
Allmusic - Album Review of "All The Colors" // "an eclectic, pre-psychedelic sound of chiming guitars and rich harmonies, elaborate musical structures, unusual instruments such as xylophones and the occasional horn, and exotic touches, particularly an Indian influence...It is performed with sophistication and affection for the style, and if it seems like something lost in a time capsule from more than 40 years earlier, that could please both aging boomers (if they got a chance to hear it) and new fans looking for something beyond the usual indie fundamentals." -William Ruhlmann, Allmusic.com
